Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA) and Woodburn School District Enter Agreement for New Sports Complex in Woodburn
Woodburn, OR – Cogeo is thrilled to share a significant development that promises to enhance community resources and youth sports in Oregon. Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA) and the Woodburn School District (WSD) have entered into an agreement to develop a new, state-of-the-art youth soccer complex in Woodburn, OR. This collaborative project marks a pivotal moment for youth sports development in the region and is set to establish a new central hub for soccer in Oregon.
The proposed complex is designed to be a premier athletic facility, featuring up to six weather-resistant artificial turf fields. While primarily for soccer, these fields will also be configured for use by football and lacrosse. To ensure year-round usability, all fields will be equipped with modern LED lighting. The plans also include a covered or fully enclosed indoor area for training and futsal, along with spectator amenities such as bleachers and shaded viewing areas.
This strategic partnership is a direct response to OYSA's growing need for a more centralized and expanded facility for its league games, tournaments, and player development programs.
For the WSD and the broader community, the complex offers substantial benefits. WSD will have reserved access to the fields during daytime school hours for physical education classes, athletic programs, and other school activities, with priority for high school sports teams.
OYSA is working with COGEO to secure its fundraising efforts for the facility build-out.
Of the project, Cogeo’s CEO, Patrick Sampson, says, “This is a monumental moment for youth sports in Oregon, particularly soccer. Full credit goes to 1) the leadership of OYSA for allowing for the necessary time to find the right location and secure a partnership at this scale with the perfect partner; and 2) to the Woodburn School District and its leadership for collaborating and signing on to the vision developed together, which will benefit both partners tremendously. COGEO couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome of this partnership, most importantly for the benefit of the Woodburn community, its student population, and many hundreds of thousands of people who will now come to visit and benefit from all that this city and facility will have to offer.”
